Vulnerable Road Users
Drivers share the roads with a number of vulnerable road users, from motorcyclists and cyclists to equestrians and pedestrians. It is imperative that professional drivers are able to spot such road users in plenty of time and adapt their driving accordingly – for example, giving cyclists a lot of room and taking care to only overtake when it is safe for everyone; checking their blind spot for motorcyclists before changing lanes on a motorway; or slowing right down when passing a horse and rider on a country lane. Here at Driver Hire Uxbridge, we offer a vulnerable road users module that ensures your drivers are aware and respectful of the dangers faced by vulnerable road users, so that everyone can share the roads safely.
Vulnerable road users training from Driver Hire Uxbridge
Our module will help your drivers understand who vulnerable road users are and what they can do to keep them safe on the roads. The aim is to ensure that they are always at the front of your drivers’ minds when they are behind the wheel. Here are the topics that our expert trainers will teach your drivers about on our vulnerable road users training module:
- Current standards addressing vulnerable road users
- Hazards that vulnerable road users face
- Safe driving
- Fleet safety
- Driver and employer responsibilities
- Vulnerable road user responsibilities
This module lasts for three and half hours. Your drivers can use it as part of a full day (seven hours) of training, in combination with another of our half-day modules. We offer a wide range of options for your drivers to choose from, including city driving, fuel-efficient driving, health and safety, the Highway Code, delivery driving and emergency first aid. The full day of training can be put toward the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
We can deliver our training in the way that suits you
We are fairly flexible in terms of how we deliver your training course. We have a purpose-built training facility in Uxbridge where a lot of our clients like to receive their training, but, if it is easier for you, we can visit your site and deliver the module there. We can do this for a class size that suits your needs – whether that’s a single driver or an entire fleet.
