Highway Code and Spotting Hazards
The Highway Code is one of the first things we learn as drivers – telling us the rules of the road and how to ensure safety in all types of road-related situations. It is not uncommon, though, for the Code to become diluted or faded in drivers’ minds as they gain experience. For commercial drivers and their employers, it is crucial that the Highway Code is followed at all times, as this ensures that they are in compliance with the law and are able to prevent accidents and incidents from occurring, wherever possible. Here at Driver Hire Uxbridge, we can deliver a comprehensive refresher module on the Highway Code and spotting hazards.
About the Highway Code
First published in 1931 by the Minister of Transport, the Highway Code aims to provide road users with practical advice that they can use to avoid accidents and incidents while driving. Some rules are legal requirements and others are guidelines, but we think it’s essential that drivers follow all aspects of it for complete safety. The Highway Code is regularly updated to ensure that it addresses all areas that apply to modern road users, so it is important that professional drivers are aware of any recent changes or additions that it contains.
